ERC Starting Grants aim to support up-and-coming research leaders who are about to establish a proper research team and to start conducting independent research in Europe.
Researchers with an excellence scientific track record can apply 2-7 years after having received their PhD.
Projects can be conducted at public or private research institutions based in an EU member state or associated country. Switzerland is associated to this part of the HORIZON 2020 programme. Thus Swiss institutions can be host institutions for ERC grantees.
